Howdy once again my friends,
The book signing in Belton was fair - we sold 25 books. The Vettes and Jets was not up to par - we sold 3. Not much advertising - the crowd was nonexistent to slow, so we decided not to do the second day and went to Starubucks instead, where we sold another 3 books.
A change has been made to our schedule of book signings. Fort Hood was not able to schedule us for November 1-3, so we moved our base of operations to the Naval Station at Carswell in Fort Worth for those three days. We look forward to seeing some of our old friends from Carol’s Air Force Reserve unit there.
We also added another book signing - next week at Starbucks in Rockport again. Starbucks has been more than generous to us in granting us a space anytime we want one. They are also generous when it comes to donating items for shipment to our troops. If you drive through Rockport, stop in and have a latte or a frapachino. Check out their sign over the door “Ask us how you can support our troops.” Great people.
The folks at Fort Sam Houston welcomed us with open arms when we stopped by to check on our scheduled book signing on the way home from Belton. We are looking forward to our first visit there in two weeks. If you live in the San Antonio area, come see us and buy a book or two.
It was a long, hot weekend for us, so I’ll sign off and we’ll hit the sack. Thanks for dropping in. I hope you enjoyed your visit. Come back often.
Via con Dias,
Karl

Good evening my friends,
During the past two weeks, we’ve had several moments to stop and thank our lucky stars we live in America. We stood with several hundred others from the surrounding communities, holding American flags and silently saluting one of our own who fell in Iraq.
Afterward, we went to Carla Reed’s home to help her pack boxes to send to our troops in Iraq. It was a fun experience and one we plan to repeat when she needs us to assist. We packed 76 more boxes with a wide variety of goodies.
So far Carla and her team have sent out 2,183 boxes. It’s an amazing accomplishment, and we enjoyed helping her. We also donated $61 to her cause.
Tonight we just returned from a very moving ceremony at the American Legion in Rockport. One of our fallen heroes was honored with a medal presented by three Marines. His cousin was also killed in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. They were both so young. It just tears you up.
God bless our troops.
Now on to the news of my book:
We sold an additional 19 books at the Naval Station in Corpus Christi, to bring our total to 221 books sold so far. We also received our first royalty check and are encouraged by the number of friends who have purchased my book.
Tuesday we met with the Rockport Book Club - twelve wonderful women, Carol and me. They had a lot of good questions and we enjoyed two hours of getting to know new friends. They all loved my book and are looking forward to the next one.
Now, for the book signings we have scheduled from now until December. It’s impressive and we hope to see you all at one or more of the events. Remember, Christmas isn’t that far away, and my book would make a wonderful present to anyone on your list.
